About

What this is

Two commas is the goal. This is the arithmetic that gets there, and the research that makes it interesting.

2 Comma Investor is about one number: $1,000,000. Two commas. It's the point where a portfolio throws off roughly $40,000 a year at a 4% withdrawal rate, so the name isn't a flex, it's arithmetic.

The site does three things, and they're deliberately different objects:

  • Research, one deep-dive report a week on a company that returns capital to shareholders. Dated, with a reference price and a target, and it stays on the coverage board whether it works or not.
  • Money, essays on financial independence and the boring decisions that actually move your date.
  • Learn, a field guide to the concepts, each one with the actual arithmetic worked through rather than described.

Free to read, free to download, no email required.

The obvious contradiction

Yes: this site tells you index funds are the right default and then publishes research on individual stocks. That's a fair objection and it gets answered head-on rather than buried, including the part where the evidence isn't on my side.

Why it looks like a sell-side note

Because the format works. A rating, a reference price, a target, a model, a bull case, a bear case, and a risk matrix force a level of specificity that a hot take doesn't. If a view can't survive being written down with numbers attached to it, it probably wasn't a view; it was a vibe.

The format is borrowed. The institutional weight behind it is not. This is one person's research, published openly so it can be checked, argued with, and scored. See Disclosures for exactly what that does and doesn't mean.

How the reports are built

  • Filings first. 10-Qs, 10-Ks, proxies, earnings call transcripts, investor decks. Consensus and market data come from third parties and are labeled as such.
  • The bear case gets argued properly. Every report steelmans the other side, in its own section, without strawmen. If the bear case is right, the report says so.
  • Scenarios, not a single number. Bull, base, and bear, each with an explicit weight, so you can see exactly where the target comes from and swap in your own assumptions.
  • Sources are listed. Every report ends with what was read. Go check it.

The scoreboard

Every call stays on the coverage board with the price it was made at, whether it works or not. Calls that get scored stay up. A price target nobody ever marks to market isn't research; it's marketing, and there is enough of that already.

Where else to find it

Each report goes out as a thread on @2commainvestor, usually the same morning it publishes here. The thread is the summary; this site is the work.

Who writes this

2 Comma Investor is written and published by a single independent author, working under the handle @2commainvestor. There is no team, no research desk, and no institution behind it. Every report, essay, chart, and valuation model on this site is built from scratch by one person.

That independence is the reason the site exists, and it is also its main limitation, so it is worth stating plainly. The author is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, licensed financial analyst, or certified financial planner, and holds no professional financial credential. Nothing here should be read as coming from a licensed professional, because it does not. What is offered instead is stated assumptions, shown arithmetic, named sources, and a public scoreboard that records every call at the price it was made. The intent is that you check the work rather than trust the author.

No compensation is accepted from any company covered. Coverage is not for sale, and no company, investor relations firm, or agency sees a report before it publishes. Where the author holds a position in a security discussed, that is disclosed in the report itself. See Disclosures for the full policy.

Corrections and contact

Every report publishes hard numbers, and numbers can be wrong. If you find an error, please write to contact@twocommainvestor.com. Reported figures are checked against the primary source, normally the company's own earnings release or filings, and if this site is wrong the page gets fixed and the correction noted openly rather than quietly edited away.

The same address handles questions about methodology, coverage suggestions, and press inquiries. It cannot be used for personal financial advice, which is not something this site is able to provide. Full detail on the contact page.
